Lost the remote?
Grab your iPhone.
TapTV controls your smart TV over Wi‑Fi. Free, no ads, no account to create.
- Free
- No ads

Ready when you are
Everything you reach for on a TV remote, plus a few things a plastic remote can't do.
-
Finds your TV automatically
Join the same Wi‑Fi and TapTV scans your home for TVs. If it can't find yours, add it by IP address.
-
A remote you already know
Power, volume, D‑pad, Back and Home are all there. On supported TVs you can switch to a touchpad.
-
Type with your iPhone keyboard
Search for a show or enter a password without pecking at letters one by one.
-
Jump straight into apps
Open Netflix, YouTube and other apps in one tap (where your TV allows it).
-
Combos
Record a sequence you use often — say, Home → open an app → go to your list — and replay it with one tap.
-
Switch between TVs
Save the living room and bedroom TVs, name them by room, and switch in one tap.
Pair even without the remote
Some TVs ask you to choose Allow or read a pairing code on screen the first time. If the physical remote is missing, TapTV shows you how to do it with:
- The TV's own buttons on the edge, side or back
- A USB keyboard plugged into the TV
- The official Roku app, for Roku TVs

Get started in three steps
-
Use the same Wi‑Fi
Your iPhone and TV must be on the same home network; guest networks usually won't work.
-
Allow Local Network access
TapTV needs it to find TVs on your network.
-
Pick your TV and pair
Roku needs no pairing. For other brands, choose Allow on the TV or enter the code it shows the first time.
Your privacy
-
Remote commands stay on your home network and never go over the internet.
-
TapTV collects no data: no analytics, no tracking, no ad SDKs.
-
Pairing credentials are stored in your iPhone's Keychain and never leave your device.
Questions, answered
Is it really free?
Yes. Free to download and use, with no ads and no in-app purchases.
Does it need the internet?
Only your home Wi‑Fi. Controlling your TV needs no internet connection and no account.
Can it control Apple TV?
No. For Apple TV, use the Apple TV Remote in your iPhone's Control Center.
TapTV can't find my TV. What now?
Make sure your iPhone and TV are on the same Wi‑Fi and that Local Network access is allowed. See the Support page for more fixes.
